kalydeco and bronchitol, page-12

IMO I beleive Kalydeco may only be for a specific genetic strain of cf that inflicts 5% of the cf community. Bronchitol treats the cough symptom and appears to reduce exacerbations which results in costly hosiptalisations. B. appears to work very well in conjunction with Kalydeco. Bronchitol is really a substitute for hypertonic saline. Before B. cf patients needed to spend 2 hours a day on a ventilator, for many cf patients using B. they can move away from saline and do this aspect of their treatment in 5 minutes a day and can travel without needing to keep close to a fridge!

I am not an expert on cf or the treatment options. I listen to the cf community who are the most knowledgable about treatment options and my comments are just me repeating what I think I hear.
