Not sure he's saying it's offensive, just that it is a 'dumb' joke. Seems to be a prime example of a 'Dad joke' and one in which the historical context makes no sense. Why would a Chinese person be flying for Japan? And WWII ended 75 years ago.
I didn't find it offensive, just dumb (stupid, nonsensical) as the previous poster stated.
