You do no not miss out on franking credits by participating in the DRP.
If you need the cash for living expenses, obviously the DRP is not for you. In all other cases DRP is 100% the right thing to do. Anything that automates the investment decision and avoids the pitfalls of procrastrination, is a good decision.
