Karmichael Hunt will play Super Rugby for Queensland Reds next season, joining the franchise from the Australian Football League, The Australian reports.
Hunt previously played professional rugby union with French Top 14 club Biarritz, between stints in rugby league with Brisbane Broncos and the AFL with Gold Coast Suns, but Australian Rugby Union officials have declined to offer him a contract top-up, The Australian reported.
The Reds had to compete for Hunt's signature against National Rugby League teams Brisbane, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Gold Coast Titans, who are believed to have offered him between $A600,000 and $A700,000. Queensland have not confirmed Hunt's contract, but The Australian reported "it is an open secret that it's a done deal".
