Nobody cares about debt... Manageable debt taken on for the right reasons is necessary and a part of business life... NOTHING would happen without debt... The fixation on debt by your good self is nonsensical. You spout theory and that is never the reality. The resultant higher SP from a regular dividend is way more beneficial then the tiny increase in the % you own from a buyback..
As for franking... Franking usefulness depends on individual tax arrangements and that's not the company's problem, however, either way will be fine by me as the ATO happily refunds unused franking credits.
