Alot of it will be funds that play the placement game.
Take all discounted placements and just fingers xt it opens above the price - then out goes the stock, whether that means selling existing holdings or pre-emptively shorting before recieving entitlement stock.
They dont really mind if they have to cop a few losses here and there...especially if its right on the price like KAR is, because there is many that open well above - and it is just a numbers game to them, nothing personal to KAR.
