Enjoying Red Robin after a successful and snarky shopping trip!Katelin and I have had quite the adventures this past week. It all began with a shopping trip with my three youngest grandchildren. There we were strolling down the right-hand aisle of the mall when an entire family just STOPPED in front of us. We couldn’t get around them and we had to stop. After about 30 seconds, Katelin had had enough and clear as day called out, “WALK”. Needless to say, we were all pretty stunned and then busted out laughing. Her nieces, especially, were pretty proud of her. It’s clear that some people can get away with that! 
The next day was Memorial Day. Now if you haven’t seen Magnolia’s Adventures or gotten your adventure book, you are missing out! Check out the newest edition with Tony Hawk!Now, I’ve done many adventures with Katelin on our way out west from Massachusetts. Big, BIG adventures, but it’s been awhile. So, with a whole non-school day to fill up and inspiration from Magnolia’s adventures, I promised her we’d do something we hadn’t done before- A SAFARI!!! It was a whole day event- 11 hours counting travel time, but it was all worth it to hear her say, “nice time” with a big smile on her face.
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is so much more handicapped friendly and accessible than either the San Diego Zoo or the LA Zoo. There was plenty of places for Katelin to view the animals unobstructed and we saw plenty! She wasn’t one bit nervous when we were on top of the safari truck and she enjoyed the view for sure. (still not quite sure if it was the guys in the back with us or the animals that she liked the most 
)
One big perk= since I was her companion, I only had to buy one ticket to get in and one ticket for the safari and I got a military discount on the entrance ticket. Can you say bargain?!?

Her favorite.My stamina is not the same as it used to be, but I’m hoping to throw an adventure in every other month or so. The next one will be at the Rett Away and she goes SURFING!! Can’t wait.
And we come to the last part of our title for this post. Had I done this yesterday, you guys would have missed a truly astonishing moment. Katelin likes to chew on ice. It helps when she’s a bit anxious or upset. She started taking the ice out of the freezer about a month ago, then I would put it in a cup for her. Just this morning, a moment I could NEVER have imagined before Daybue, Katelin brought me the ice tray AND a cup, one in each hand. To get the cup she had to choose the correct cabinet, reach up and grab it and do the same with the ice tray and then carry them both to me.
All in all, a week of many firsts and hopes of more to come.
