in my experience the only people who become entwined with the union and become reps or delegates are trouble makers or lazy and see the union as a free ride. this episode is no different. i remember one who was so much trouble at alcoa, because it was difficult to sack him made him up to safety rep - a do nothing job.
the rank and file do not have the time or inclination to get involved except when there is a stop work meeting.
i have only ever met one who really did have the rank and file as a consideration.
whistleblower laws are rubbish. right or wrong it takes guts to take the job on - something the slime like her detractors dont possess
