re: kcg - gold and silver :-) I am far from an expert in this area, but I thought that MIM & Xstrata wanted to concentrate on core heavy minerals and coal, and have never really been that excited by gold.
I know a couple of their mines had gold (Ernest Henry & Alumbrera (?), but don't think they mined it for that. More likely the copper.
Although, I will stand correction if I am wrong, unlike others.
