Surely one of the first principles of doing one's own research is to inquire into sources and into the veracity of what one is being told.
On HotCopper there is an Unsubstantiated Information option on the Terms of Use report button.
As far as I am concerned if someone asserts something as if it is a fact (without providing a source or any substantiating information) then (if I am interested enough to care about the truth of what they said) - I will ask them politely to do so, and then reserve the right to report the post for "unsubstantiated information" if they do not. There is absolutely no anomosity in this it is just good research hygiene.
No one has a right to provide mis-information about the market on a bulletin board - and everyone has a right to keep their secrets to themselves if they choose.
