On site or nearby distillate production using crude from producing wells in the Canning Basin and use of the resulting diesel and other product in the region sounds promising and lateral.
Whilst the technology may be new and compact, the idea is not. Back in the mid 80's I witnessed crude oil from the Palm Valley Oil Field west of Alice Springs being pumped through a plant the size of a large caravan to strip out mainly parafins (as I recall) and the resulting fuel being used to run their diesel vehicles and equipment. And I was told the total price including the crude was just a few cents per litre.
A small, efficient plant like the German kdv technology in the Golden Dynasty announcement could give small isolated oil fields a new lease on life. Lets wait and see.
