IMO, Keating has a big picture perspective which
is missing from political leaders today.

Its ironic that superannuants on these threads bag
Keating when he was the one to set up Super and
converted many working class retirees into capitalists.

I believe that Keating is right that we should have
concentrated on developing good relations with Indonesia rather
than following the US into M/E wars.

That said, Keating messed up his figures:

He said that China's GDP was 25% bigger than that of the USA
without qualifying that as GDP (PPP) & not in USD.

He then cited US GDP per capita being $60K & China's being $10K
He also cited China's population as being 1.4 billion

    Well 1.4 billion multiplied $10K is $14 Trillion....nor $24 Trillion
(The US GDP is $22 Trillion.....Keating rounded it down to $20 Trillion)

I was surprised that the numerate in the press gallery did not pick this up

Either the economies including GDP/Capits is measured in PPP or USD
not PPP in one & USD in another for comparative purposes
