"Your worries are frivolous" I think it is dragut who is worried that Australia is disallowing Chinese investment, but thank you in any case for providing anecdotal examples of how Chinese investment in Australia is ongoing despite the speculation.
As for the Chinese buying media stock on the ASX, the FTA rule concerns single entities owning 5%+ or more of the media sector, it does not stop 10 Chinese individuals buying 1% of the media sector each (many assumptions are being made of the assets and mix of companies in this hypothetical scenario). You could call that a loophole, but both parties knew what they were signing and have no one else to blame.
