I recall those days when migrants from places like the UK, Yugoslavia and Italy brought skills pre training with them so they could hit the ground running.
None of them were greeted with pander, so they had to get on and do. You could always count on the POMs thinking themselves superior and reminiscing about the good old days of the British empire and the gradual loss of their nation to hard times and invasion of coloured colonials .. the reasons most emmigrated here for relief.
Of course the Italians, Yugoslavs, Greeks, etc were very happy they had new digs and joined in balls deep.
Now we have the five eyes all trying to erase their existence, while Europe, the UN and the rest of world happy clap the fall of the gold star advanced civilisation. And you can bet there are a number of expat Brits still old dart loyal to a fault, who are keen to see Australia spoil by importing the useless, just to prove the UK fail and thus their own involvement is not an isolated instance
