That's not quite the situation. The AFL (and ARL) exemptions are not a free-for-all. They are based on a medically approved COVID containment plan which means that players and staff have no contact with the Qld community. Transgressions are punished with bans.
I say this as someone who a) could not care less about football and b) is currently on day 5 of 14 days compulsory and rigorous hotel quarantine in Qld.
