Thanks Slampoil. You seem to be in the know.
I'm convinced by the limited stimulation program that they
can yield gas at much higher rates than this. So my fears
have been allayed.
However, I'm wondering if they can stimulate and produce
from a 1300m zone (as in the known vertical width of the
gas charged laurel formation seen in the Valhalla wells)?
Do you know if this is possible, or would they only produce
from a percentage of this width? A zone of this thickness, if stimulated, would likely yield at least 10 mmft per day I would have thought.
Furthermore Eric has suggested that the tight gas in the
Laurel formation is ultimately likely to be more productive
than "traditional" shale gas plays. Given the liquids
content of the gas, the value goes up significantly.
It would really be nice to know what sort of initial
production rates we are looking at and what the decline
curve over time will be. Only a full scale test will tell
us this. I'm betting we have an offer on the table before
this happens though.
