DOVER, Del. (AP) State public health officials report that four additional cases of antiviral-resistant flu have been confirmed in Delaware.

The new cases bring the total number of resistant flu cases in the state this flu season to 10.

The most recently confirmed involved a 2-month-old Sussex County boy who was briefly hospitalized, a 7-year-old Sussex County girl who did not require hospitalization, a 45-year-old Sussex County woman whose February death had been previously announced, and a 28-year-old New Castle County man who was briefly hospitalized.

Officials said Monday that more test results are pending as the state works with federal health officials on the disease investigation.

    autoflight response:

The flu is most likely resistant to Tamiflu, an antiviral with limited effectiveness.

I sincerely hope that medical authorities and citizens fully understand that there are no significant resistance issues with Relenza, an Australian developed antiviral. Relenza is manufactured by GSK and is FDA approved.
