It's worth going back to this media release because today in the Financial Review, in relation to gas supply and prices, two observations are made:
"Gas users who want only one thing – lower prices."
"If you flood a market, clearly the price will crater."
The government wants gas prices to fall. One of its options is to increase supply.
That means they need to be bringing on new production. In the shorttrerm that means getting more from the current producers but longer term it requires exploration for it to be sustainable.
