"EIGHTEEN months in the making, more than three months under consideration and counting - the Henry Tax Review looks like being bigger than Ben Hur.

But the actual creation of a simpler and fairer tax system is probably going to take on Avatar proportions.

Treasurer Wayne Swan says this tax reform plan won't be a quick fix, and his idea of a 10-year plan might be a conservative estimate.

"There is a lot of work and a lot of hard yards to do," tax counsel at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Yasser El-Ansary told AAP.

"In many respects, receiving Ken Henry's report and the Government's response isn't really the end of it.

"It's the start of serious tax reform for Australia's future."

What reform was that.

The facts are:: Labor commissioned Ken Henry to compile a tax review for Australia.
When Labor received it they took the two pages out of it they liked and sat on the rest. They actually did not know what to do with it.
