"IMO, we are unlikely to be attracting overseas investments with a carbon tax, massive debt and other policies that do not look after the economics of this country."

Firstly business and investors look for certainty. In the case of the "carbon tax" having a clear direction and plan and infact being a world leader puts Australia in a good position to attract investment, particularly in new forms of energy. We are placing ourselves in a good position to attract overseas money by working towards an ETS.Having a carbon tax has always been the first step towards an EST.
The "massive debt" you talk about does not exist.
The"other policies" you talk off have resulted in Australia being the first country (developed) to forecast a surplus.Exactly what Govt policies have compromised the economy
The Govt,Rudd/Swann and Gillard/Swann have done very good things for this country. They have however not handled the politics very well.I would rather a Govt that does the right thing and compromises politics than the reverse.
I thought Ken Henry made a lot of sence.
