Recreational drugs are rife in society. It would be the same with footy players especially in the off season. A well known AFL player a couple of years ago asked a mate of mine (who he didn't know from a bar of soap) if he could get e's for him.
What is different is people dying, admitted drug addiction and a drug culture that begins at the top echelon (Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher etc).
From my personal view is that with their midfield the Eagles should have won 3-4 premierships (similar line up to Brisbane) and the problems above have resulted in an implosion that will result in the single premiership (by 1 point).
