She said it was Kennel Cough and both of her dogs had had it recently and they caught down at Queens Park where I take him every day. He only starts coughing when somebody comes to the front door. By the time I got back to the Vets they were either shut or never opened. Does it get worse ? or should I take him to an emergency vet? As I said he seems OK until a visitor lobs and he gets excited. She said a course of antibiotics will fix him up. Don't like to see him in pain and I won't let him near other dogs as I don't want to see him pass it on. Do you think it would be cruel to wait until Monday?

Not at all given that he/she only gets the cough when excited by the prospect of visitors.
Antibiotics are only required if the dog has a secondary infection ie kennel cough is caused by a virus. Keep the dog at home until well again so as not to spread the virus and off the fence if the neighbours have dogs.
