Kev, a recent arrival from New Zealand, went into a fish and chip shop and asked for, "Fush n Chups."
The owner of the shop said, "You are from New Zealand aren't you."
Our startled hero said, "How do you know that?"
The chippy owner said, "Well, here in Australia we say "chips", whereas you said "chups".
This worried our hero and so he spent the next two months practicing to say "chips".
Eventually he was confident that he had it, so he went into a shop and said:
"Fush and chips please."
The shop owner said, "You are a Kiwi aren't you."
"How do you know?" replied Kev.
"we say fish and chips here mate"
So he went and practiced again for two months and came back and said "I want some fish and chips" - perfect!
The shop owner said, "You are a Kiwi aren't you."
"I have HAD it! how do you know?" replied Kev.
"Well", said the shop owner, "we changed to a hardware store last month."
