I shorted at $32.80 this morning and was nearly going to close it out for a loss. The buying this morning was very strong. The only explanation is an index fund with anew mandate. Apparantly that is given as the reason for some uncharacteristic rises in the last few days in the big stocks.
But it didn't make sense not with copper down overnight, swine flu to further affect base metal prices and the stories going around about substantial cuts in the iron ore contract prices.
With the US bank stress testing not looking good and all of the above I expect BHP to have a bit of a tumble over the next few days.
