Unfortunately the general populace was sucked in by the inept journos who wanted a 'change' at any price and the constant verbal biting by the arty farty crowd. This is the same 'think alike' crowd that still hanker for the Whitlam era when anything hung on a wall was considered to be art.
It wasn't helped by the Howard Government's attempt to buy the election with extravagant promises (I always considered the Baby Bonus to be poor policy).
Still not all is lost for Labor as long as Ruddy Duddy can keep the extremists in his party at arms length. But it is now at the biting edge of politics and blaming the other party will no longer be accepted by the elctorate.
