    It certainly looks like K747 is soliciting an appointment with the UN or some related agency and making use of taxpayer funds to do so. Spreading our tax money as largesse around third world countries that have the potential to influence an appointment to the UN is getting a bit obvious. Is K747 taking French lessons too? That is what caught out Gareth Evans when he was seeking to exit the Hawke Labor government to a cushy UN job. And the French lessons were taxpayer funded as well!

    An interesting point - in the US politicians are not permitted to apply for jobs with the UN within 12 months of leaving office. For obvious reasons. I would like to see similar legislation in the Australian parliament.
