    Re: "Ridiculously over engineered solution"
    ------------------
I understand why business parks, industrial areas, hospitals, etc can do with fibre, but every home - get real! FTTN and a more nodes will do it for a lot cheaper...

I love the "hospital at home" argument...
Yep - NBN will help us fix a broken arm, allow a doctor the precision of looking over our body as if we are in surgery (feeling stomach, etc comes to mind...). The NBN will somehow also allow for the collection of blood and urine samples. Let's face it, some things can be done but not all. Wireless will allow for sufficient resolution for the remaining tasks.

I can understand why we upgrade to the nodes, but I haven't heard any convincing argument so far that changes this from FTTN to FTTH - with the possible exception of breaking the Telstra monopoly which can be done by other means and for probably a little less than 30B.

Tell me - why do all homes need fibre? (oh - and I have supported IT projects Asia wide from home with ADSL - I wasn't even on ADSL2+ at the time...)
