    IMO we have little appetite as an electorate for leaders who
    want long term economic plans for Aus. We are hoodwinked by
    the Murdoch media that we should be politically driven by the market
    which in turn is driven by predominantly foreign owned Multinationals
    (including Murdoch) and as such, the General Good seems to be sidelined
    for the benefit of a few as evidenced rapidly increasing wealth gap.

    This leads to political short-termism which populists interpret as
    the #1 objective being to get re-elected.

    The most influential lobby groups in Aus (& the biggest political doners outside the ACTU)
    are the BCA, The Minerals Council of Australia 7 the Bankers Association and from the chart above
    the leaders of all 3 are majority foreign owned. And of course the squeaky wheel (in this case the big lobbying groups)
    get the oil......not the plebs who vote.
