@Bunn-Wackett; we lost the trade war decades ago - our business people just rolled over and relocated to China in their lust to satiate their personal $Greed. China needs our dirt but they're even working alternative suppliers for that as well.
What remains to be resolved include a legitimacy war, a culture war and the willingness to sacrifice.
China craves legitimacy, its fully aware of just how many Chinese born / descendants of Chinese now call Australia home and historically they've repeatedly fallen victim to exploitation, military aggression and invasion by 'foreigners'.
Japan's invasion of China in the 1930s and its slaughter of countless millions of Chinese citizens that western countries chose to ignore is etched in Chinese History - poking the Panda is not very clever!
