Hi Alan. I respect your views, but would press for reconsideration on the EU.

In brief:

Results of the EU

1. no war between members.
This is BIG, (remember WW1, WW2?) and same can be said for an Asia-Pacific union.

2. Common currency has given Europe a new focus, direction and strength. It now challenges the US dollar. Please note too, it avoid border checks (costly) and bank charges (changing currencies). Also big benefits.
