hi harvey
yes i am familiar with the manufactoring area - im a boilermaker in construction in a consulting qa qc or supervisory role
i realsie that automation is a driver for industries such as automotive but automation can never take over the role of people like boilermakers, welders and such especially in the field
programmers are required on machinery such as cnc lathes and laser cutters but you still require a man that can read a plan that has been drawn by a draughty and designed by an engineer/architect to put it all together
even toolmaking requires a first class tradie to initiate the process, even tho it ultimately is for a highly automatic process
thing is that you still require a pair of hands at the coal face
