Whether they see it or not, this will be a huge political hurdle to overcome. This wont see the light of day in the current senate sitting and the Libs will ensure that occurs.

Their next opportunity will be in 2010 and this will drag ever so closer to the election. Not a nice one to have hanging around ones neck when seeking reelection. Lots of cranky shareholders with ballot forms in their hands - can't be a welcome thought for Rudd.

In their zeal to be seen as reformers (cause they've done precious else) they have thrown any prospect of a double dissolution out of the window which would have sent the Libs further down the gurgler. And they have around 1.4 million very irate shareholders itching to get exact some savage revenge via the ballot box. Turnbull must be laughing his head off.

Rudd should never have let Conroy off the leash and he will discover next year why.

Just for everyone's information I'm no Liberal voter. I am 45 and have voted Labor since I was 18 - never strayed. Next year will mark a change in Government and my voting history. I have a strong suspicion that I will have plenty of friends.

No cost benefit analysis for a 42 billion investment in the NBN - that sums it up really.
