I wonder how many people would back a Super Tax on Race Horses that win Group One Races.

Would the Melbourne Cup be fair game for a Super Profits Tax?

Mining is a bit like racing horses. Plenty give it a go, it's expensive and very few succeed.

Once a race horse proves to be unviable it is no longer raced. The same with exploration and an unprofitable mine.

The big thing they have in common (and horse racing is a big industry) is the promise, and that's all it is, of a bonanza at the end of the so called rainbow of success.

No dreams of Bonanza = do something else.

Any one that knows a little about the Window Tax that was introduced into England in the late 1600's and lasted through until the early 1850's would understand why windows in houses were bricked in.

Tax changes habits and this one will not be different.
