Well today is the day we all should refect on the enormous sacrifices our men and women made for us so that we could enjoy the benefits of living in the best country in the world.
I'm sure so many of you will have a story to tell about loved one's who are no longer with us. Tales of fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandfathers and grandmothers who made the greatest sacrifice.
Personally I will be reflecting with sadness and appreciation on my uncle who died of a heart attack at age 38 after returning from the horrific treatment at the hands of the J*panese(and K*reans) in Changi prison camp in Singapore.
A greater personal loss was that of my father who died prematurely at 45. He was also a victim of the years of mistreatment in Changi.

So here's to all who gave their lives during the wars and for those who died as a consequence of the wars.

War is a terrible thing, but sometimes we are called to defend what we believe in without fear or favour.

I wonder if the current generation would take up the challenge if called upon?

Let's pray they are never asked.
