What makes you so certain Australian Banks would not provide a draw down facility to a company that wants to develop a gas discovery offshore Tanzania? Furthermore, why would KEY have to engage European banks or the World Bank? Have you had previous experience in the areas of investment banking and/or project finance? Australian banks lend to companies with projects all over the world every day of the week. Your comments clearly confirm you frankly have no idea about the facility i am talking about and the basis on which Australian banks provide these types of facilities. I am getting increasingly tired of your argumentative style based on little or no understanding on certain topics. Sure you have some great knowledge about KEY and the O&G industry and i often find your posts informative. However, i doubt you are the expert you claim to be with all your arguments and insights.
These draw down facilities are banked on producing P1 cash flows as stated in my post so your comment "I would prefer this than have to wait for production to begin in earnest from KN-1" simply shows your lack of understanding. If Australian banks are not going to lend on projects in countries like Tanzania as you are so sure about why did CBA recently lend $3m to ORD who is exploring for Bauxite in Laos of all places? More to the point, what is the issue with Tanzania anyway? It has a low risk profile as detailed in numerous international geopolitical, economic and sovereign reports.
BTW Surandy, "shortly" (ie short-term) in investment circles refers to less than 1 year. So yes i agree with you around your suggested timing.
Aksier, don’t worry i have certainly not forgotten SSW! I still can’t believe this block was there for the taking. You would have thought given its close proximity to SS that it would have been one of the first blocks pegged.
So i post a thought about a conceivable concept (debt facility) that has not been adequately dealt with on any KEY threads and all i get is nit picking about what shortly is or lessons on what Australian banks' lending policies are.
