The green energy theme continues in this morning's AFR. Interesting stats below.

The new CEO of AEMO announcing in today's AFR the goal of being able to handle 100% renewable energy (some currently turned away) on the grid by 2025. 7GW of renewable energy installed in 2020. 14GW rooftop capacity. 24% of electricity generation in 2020. Expects 26-50GW of new large scale wind and solar capacity to be installed by 2040. Existing installed capacity is approx. 55GW with peak demand of 30-35GW. Expects 16GW of thermal generating capacity to be retired.

In March, Andrew Forest announced plans to install 40GW of renewable energy in the Pilbara for green hydrogen with a potential pipeline globally of 1000GW of renewable energy.

China represented 80% of the 280GW of increased renewable energy capacity in 2020 and will represent 42% of capacity additions to 2030.

Peak copper supply forecast for 2024 with major supply deficits forecast for the rest of the decade as grades decline/resource depletion continues from the major South American copper mines.

Fitch expects green copper (renewable energy) to grow 13%pa to 5.4mnt by 2030 representing 15.8% of total copper demand.

Trafigura is forecasting a supply deficit of 10mnt by 2030.

Will hold off on reviewing beachside properties until we are in production when copper prices should be a lot higher and production capacity/ volumes may benefit from additional discoveries.
