On New Year's Eve, KGN closed at 19.00. Since then, it's continued an uptrend that began in late November.

By applying a Regression Trend to the November bounce, it shows that KGN's uptrend is steady and disciplined. In that time, nearly all opens/closes have been within 2 standard deviations (blue outer lines) of a rising base (red inner line). So long as price action remains within these bands, it's a safe time to hold:



With Friday's close, KGN also had its first weekly close above 20 bucks (yellow line) in nine weeks. Above that line, there is historical volatility with a lack of clear weekly support:



This next chart shows the EMA ribbon for the last 12 months. Note the colour on the top of the ribbon (red or yellow), and when the ribbon twists (flipping the colours around).

At the beginning of the chart, the yellow line was on top, and red on the bottom. But when the ribbon twists (red on top, yellow on bottom), that signals (or perhaps rather confirms) a trend change.

A few days ago, the ribbon twisted again, putting the yellow line back on top. The last time the yellow line twisted to the top (April 2020), it began a long uptrend:



Following the late November bounce, KGN has experienced Black Friday, Cyber Monday, the Mighty Ape acquisition, entry into the ASX200, and the Christmas sales period.

One would think these events will provide fuel for a positive January business update; I think others have said it will be released in the next week or so.
