Kicking our SAS, page-45

oc16, It's an uncomfortable topic and I've got bundles of respect for our special forces. It just puzzles me really because special forces are so highly trained and that they weed out the weak minded in selection. From what I've seen, as a civvy, they've always impressed me in that they tend to be the most reasonable and, in order to work with civilian populations behind enemy lines they are chosen for their humble and self-aware approach to conflict resolution, information gathering, etc.

I wonder though whether this is actually 'normal' in these vietnam-type conflicts but we wouldn't usually hear about it. I also have doubts whether many of us would be much different once the shooting starts.
