Swala Energy identifies large structure from seismic over Tanzania oil and gas licence
Swala Energy (ASX: SWE) has identified the presence of a 30 to 60 square kilometre structure at its Kilosa-Kilombero oil and gas licence in Tanzania using  initial processed data from the recent 2D seismic survey.

Results from the 143 kilometre survey over the Kidatu Basin indicate the presence of large-scale structures along the edges of the basin together with the major intra-basin high identified on dip and strike lines.

Acquisition of seismic over the Kilombero Basin, south of Kidatu, has begun following which the seismic crew will mobilise to the Pangani Licence in the north of Tanzania to acquire up to 200 kilometres of 2D seismic.

Previous seismic at the Kilosa Basin had indicated the possible presence of large-scale structures along the edges of the basin and rotated fault blocks in the middle of the basin.

The extent and prospectivity of the structures will be determined following additional processing and interpretation.

The Kilosa Basin is believed to host both Karoo (Permo-Triassic) and Neogene sediments, the latter of which represents the oil play system in the East African Rift System, which is host to the multi-billion barrel of oil Albert Graben play that Tullow Oil (LON: TLW) is developing in Uganda.
