That's why the Law of Gravity is called exactly that, as opposed to the Theory of Gravity.

The existence of gravity was indeed a theory and one stage, and then after it was proven and it became more than a mere hypothesis, it became accepted as a law of physics.

That’s incorrect madamswer. Calling something a Law is just an outdated term for what is now called a Theory, as a little reading on your part will confirm for you. They mean essentially the same thing in science. It is accepted these days that, unlike in mathematics, nothing is ever proved in science, hence the current lack of use of the word law for any new scientific theory.
