    Thank you telecoms industry Australia!!!

What a great email to finish the year wish. A great effort from our industry!!! We have been able to assist kids not just at the Westmead Hospital but as you will see around Australia.

The big smile from 14 year old Asha Jairath (see pic) tells the story and that smile alone made the whole exercise worthwhile.

Thank you all very much for making this happen. In the meantime we have received yet another contribution from gotalk. I am also aware of several people who have made financial contributions, many others did send very supportive messages and more people have indicated to send a mobile phone and sim card - a big thank you to all of you.

As you will understand these kids need our continuous support so it is never ever to late to participate.

Helping Kids with Cancer Stay in Touch this Christmas

Children from The Children’s Hospital at Westmead can now listen to music and stay in touch with friends and family near and far this Christmas following a generous donation from Leading Edge Telecoms, 3 Mobile, Vodafone, Optus, DHL and gotalk.

Today, Leading Edge Telecoms and 3 Mobile helped shine a little light and add a little music to the lives of children with cancer in the oncology unit just in time for Christmas.

Allan Evans, General Manager of Leading Edge Telecoms and Philip McKenzie, Chairman Kids Cancer Support Australia Foundation presented the children with 40 brightly wrapped brand new mobile phones, along with $30 prepaid sim cards and 40 brand new iPod Shuffles.

Tanya Bowes, Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs for Hutchison Telecommunications (Australia) Ltd (3 Mobile), and Philip McKenzie, Chairman Kids Cancer Support Australia Foundation presented the children with 10 brightly wrapped brand new 3G mobile phones, along with $20 prepaid sim cards.

Dr Luciano Dalla-Pozza, Senior Staff Specialist, Head of Department of Oncology was thrilled to accept the generous donation on behalf of the children and the families and emphasised the importance of music and conversation in the children’s lives during their time in hospital.

Mr Evans said, “We are proud to be able to do our bit to help the children and their parents stay in touch with their loved ones over Christmas and the New Year.”

“More than ever, this is a time of year when the Children from The Children’s Hospital at Westmead should feel part of the community and the colourful Christmas celebrations. We hope this small step helps bring them closer.

“It is the first time Leading Edge Telecoms has donated to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and after seeing the children’s faces light up when they opened their gifts, we hope to make more contributions like this in the future.”

Tanya Bowes said “We are delighted that we can help make a difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead”

Mr McKenzie said “With Leading Edge Telecoms and 3 Mobile’s generous support and the encouragement of the community, the Kids Cancer Support Australia Foundation can continue to assist in the provision of the care and expertise which our children are entitled to“
