Aren’t the speed limitations in coal (4hrs) and gas (15mins) more to do with heating them up to get the steam?
Also for comparing hydro to battery I imagine battery is OK for the first few milliseconds and seconds but couldn’t a hydro turbine that is already running at say half speed under water pressure then be sped up to full speed in seconds and wouldn’t its inertia already be overcome just like a big flywheel?
So couldn’t hydro pick up the sudden load needed and maintain it much better than batteries?
