I'm not a holder but have followed KIM (and BDI) for some time.
The management have been involved with the project for a long time - Kennedy plus 10 years. It seems like they have grown weary of the job and constant setbacks in getting the mine up and running at full production. The rest of the industry has been on fire of late, nickel, copper, iron ore, uranium to name just a few, and I'm sure the boys at KIM have been sitting back watching with envy the huge market cap rises of the peers and wondering why they got into the super tough game that is diamond mining. Some of the KIM boys also got burnt with the lack of success at Namakwa Diamonds (now RNI) some years back.
It seems like the offer is the easiest way for them to take their money, get out of the diamond game and move on to something else. The 70c offer is very disappointing given the share price was 70c only two weeks ago - talk of a 33% premium is therefore a joke and I can't see how it is fair or reasonable to shareholders.
Best of luck on this one. Your only hope is that some of the insto's get together and demand a higher bid.
