Hi, Can't remember exactly who or why, but somewhere in the past I heard you were interested in macrophotography, therefore the commencement of the thread.
Maybe there are others out there that are either interested, or will become inspired to do so. So far I'm not overstruck on using the DSLR for macro shots, compared to my old 'film camera'. Hopefully will perfect it in time.
Not sure what size thread is on your Nikon lens, (52mm?), and the size of your 10x fotar is? Ebay is the place to go for filter adapter rings. If camera lens is 52mm, and your 10x is 58mm, you need to buy a 52-58mm step UP ring. around $3/4 on ebay, with free postage. A full set of 16 step up/step down rings, go for under $20.
