How much backing will the new manager get, can Liverpool compete with the new City regime, Chelsea's bottomless pit, Utd's pull, Arsenal are always up there, so they are now in comparison to Spurs, not by there spendid past but the future and the future is dodgy, Hodgson was never welcomed, Benitez good in Europe and won the champions league but could not put a stand of previous Liverpool Managers ( Shankley and Paisley) that's what Lverpool fans still expect. I think those days disappeared long ago and only maybe the Special one could start a new Liverpool, but again for how long, they lost the the family feel in the eighties under Dalgish, he bought tried instant success ( John Barnes etc) and Souness carried it on, look at Utd at the same time they started to produce there own talent and have carried on with the youngsters plus good buys if they can get one ie Rooney a scouser kissing the Utd badge ? that is money talking and creating success how many championships since then, Shankley would be turning in his grave.
