Building systems company Tamawood Ltd has announced that its managing
director, Ms Aretha Garlick will take up duties as Non-Executive
Director-Franchisee Development. Her day-to-day executive duties in
the company will be assumed by founder and executive director, Mr Lev
Mizikovsky.
Tamawood, ranked in a recent Housing Industry Association study as
one of Australia's top ten home building companies, is now actively
franchising its marketing and building systems to other building
companies throughout Australia.
In addition to her continuing role as a director of Tamawood, Ms
Garlick will consult to the company's franchisees to help them
streamline and grow their businesses by aligning their systems and
procedures to those of Tamawood.
Ms Garlick started as Tamawood's first office junior in 1989,
learning the industry and helping build the company's systems from
the ground up. She was appointed managing director in 1998, and is
one of the company's major shareholders. The company floated on the
ASX in August 2000 and in the intervening period its share price has
trebled.
In announcing the initiative, Tamawood chairman, Mr John Lyons said
"Together with the company's founder, Lev Mizikovsky, Aretha has been
a major driver in making Tamawood a 'systems company', not simply a
home building company, so it is entirely appropriate that she should
undertake this key role in the next phase of the company's growth. In
addition, the new role will give Aretha more flexibility and time to
devote to her young family"
Tamawood's 14 year operating history through its affiliated licensed
builder network has enabled the company to extend its marketing and
production reach through smaller builders in south-east Queensland.
The company's market share, currently 10% in Queensland, has risen
from 4% less than three years ago
The affiliated licensed builder system, pioneered by Tamawood,
provides other builders access to the company's marketing services,
design range, drafting and estimating services and buying power.
Affiliated licensed builders contract directly with each of their
customers but are nevertheless contractually bound through
specifications and plans to adhere to Tamawoods construction and
service standards.
