You are probably right about "buying out of the money options" so close to expiry. But from the dumbness I have been seeing recently of all those option conversion 3B notices (for 10 cents) when those same people could have bought heads for 8 to 9 cents and sold their options to someone else, it may be someone being incredibly dumb.
