WED 10.17, COUGAR ENERGY
28 July 2010
Clarification: Golder Associates
Cougar Energy Limited (ASX: CXY) has been informed that there may have been some
misinterpretation of its announcement of 16 July 2010 to the ASX referring to the
involvement of Golder Associates in the sampling of monitoring bores at the Companys
Kingaroy project.
Golder Associates has provided high quality consulting engineering and environmental
services to Cougar Energy since the inception of the project, including relevant hydro
geological studies.
In relation to the monitoring bores, Golder Associates has been responsible for sampling
water from the bores in accordance with strict procedures to minimize potential
contamination, and passing the samples to Cougar Energy staff on-site for despatch to a
separate independent laboratory which has no association with either Cougar Energy or
Golder Associates. Golder Associates has had no part in the dispatch of samples to the
laboratory, or in the testing of the samples.
As reported in detail in the attached Queensland Government Department of Environment
and Resource Management update, the independent laboratory has advised Cougar Energy
in writing that two of its readings from key monitoring bores were in error due to a switch in
samples in the laboratory. This included a key reading of 84ppb of benzene at the edge of
the pilot plant area and a reading of 3ppb toluene at a bore approximately 1 km from the
plant site. Both of these readings were in fact zero.
There is no suggestion that these errors were in any way attributable to Golder Associates. MR T
