POLICE have arrested an 18-year-old man over the death of Thomas Kelly in Kings Cross. The teenager was arrested by Homicide Squad detectives at a sports field at Belmore about 7.30pm tonight.
The young man is believed to be from Glendenning, near Mount Druitt in Sydney’s west.
It is understood the alleged attacker had just turned 18 this year.
He is currently at Campsie Police Station being interviewed by detectives from Strike Force Mohawk, which was formed to investigate the death of Thomas Kelly, and is expected to be charged.
He will appear before court tomorrow.
The Daily Telegraph has been made aware of the man's identity but cannot print it for legal reasons.
Mr Kelly was killed after being punched to the head as he made his way to a birthday party just after 10pm on July 7.
Mr Kelly, who was talking on his phone at the time of the assault, collapsed to the ground before being transported to hospital.
His family made the decision to turn off his life-support in hospital three days later.
