While he would not be drawn on Kingsgate's strategy should the company not attain a 25% stake in Andean by the close of business today, Smyth-Kirk agreed there may be opportunities in the future if his predictions about Andean's future prove correct.

He said Kingsgate was assessing, and would continue to assess, a number of other opportunities, though no firm plans are currently in place for the company's next corporate move.
